  2. Hello Alice – I am an assistant principal for a BOCESCareer and Technical Public High School in Binghamton, NY. A small local children’s museum (called the Discovery Center) wants us to build a truck based on your Little Blue Truck book. The principal and I have brainstormed some ideas with our autobody teachers to have our students create something for the museum. My wife is an assistant principal in the same building for Special Education program (called PALS) in the same building who just got a new greenhouse program that is going to plant flowers in the back of the truck.

I’m not even sure if this email address will work but we would love to get your feedback with the students. I think you’ll be very impressed. Maybe a Skype call or we could send you the pictures of their work. My email is

    Thank you for your time.

    Hello Alice,

My niece and nephew loved Little Blue Truck so much that their grandmother, my sister-in–law, asked me to put the entire story (your words) to a song of my own composing, which I have done, (3:26 long). As a child, I remember Captain Kangaroo did the same thing with Peter, Paul, and Mary’s song, Puff the Magic Dragon. I loved it then…and still do today. I would like to send the song to you, not that I’m any singer…but the melody delivers the story’s message as you intended. Rest assured, you are the only one, other than my niece and nephew, who have heard (and will hear) the song…. If you would like, please contact me at and I will forward the song to you. Thanks for writing a story with an awesome theme: true friendship.

    Hello Ms. Schertle,

As a fan of old cars, having a ’29 and ’34 chevrolet in the collection, I would like to know what your inspiration was for creating the book series “little blue truck”? My 1 year old loves them and I read them to him almost daily; somedays multiple times a day.

Thank you and have a wonderful day,

    Hi Alice:

I am the board president of small rural public library in Western PA; approximately 25 miles east of Pittsburgh. Every year we have a book auction in which we auction off books signed by their authors. I am a new grandmother and just became re-acquainted with children’s books! My grandson is only 7 months old but already Little Blue Truck is one of OUR favorites! If I sent one of your books and provided return postage and an envelope, would you be willing to sign it for us? Children’s books are the most popular genre at our auction and I’m sure a book signed by you would be a favore.

Your consideration is deeply appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Respectfully yours,

    Marci Lavelle – Board President

      Hi Alice,
I have the funniest/sweetest video of my son giggling so much at The Little Blue Truck when he was 6 months old. I would love for you to see it. I was also wondering if we could have your permission to send it in to funniest home videos?

  13. Hello,

I am a member of a small french association “Yalla for Syrian children” whose goal is to educate children Syrian refugees in Lebanon to enable them to integrate then Lebanese schools. The school Yalla Aley is located about thirty kilometers from Beirut. The children were between 6 t 13 years.

That is why I address you, perhaps you could send me some books, new or old, or at least, to relay this message to your relationships elsewhere in the world?

I slip you the address of the association’s website:

My two year old grandson, Brody, adores “Little Blue Truck”. I read “Little Blue Truck”, “Little Blue Truck Leads the way” and “Little Blue Truck’s Christmas” at least 6 times each every day and every evening his Mom reads these same books to him over and over. I just pre ordered “Little Blue Truck’s Halloween”. Please, please write more of these delightful books. They are a pleasure to read to little ones (even after a hundred times). Brody loves these stories more than anything.

    Alice Schertle,

Foundry10 is a research organization providing kids with opportunities to explore the arts.

A new project of ours is having kids create musical tracks out of story books. Our objective is to give kids (kindergarten thru 6th grade) an opportunity to compose music, as well as give them exposure to using audio recording equipment with a professional assistant.

We would like to use one of your books for this project, meaning the kids would be using the literary material in your book to create their musical tracks. The end product will be a CD of tracks for the kids to have. This CD will not be commercialized. We will not be making a profit from this project, it is for educational purposes only for the students.

Please let us know if you have any questions, or refuse our ability to use the written materials in your story book for this project.

    Best regards,
    Sarah Stanger

We wanted to thank you for writing the beautiful poem “Dinosaur Bone.” My kindergartener John chose it to memorize and wanted to share it with you:
